Jill S. Vogel, former partner at Kemp Smith, LLP of El Paso, has joined the El Paso Children's Hospital as their first General Counsel. Jill Vogel has extensive background in the healthcare industry and law. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas and the District Court of New Mexico. She is also a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
Vogel served in the Army Nurse Corps, United States Army and Army Reserves where she retired in 2009. Her army assignments included Nurse Manager for the Operating Room at William Beaumont Army Medical Center during Operation Enduring Freedom; Charge Nurse and Quality Improvement/Risk Management Nurse in the Operating Room and Laser Safety Nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center; United Nations Peacekeeper and Combat Operating Room Nurse/Infection Control Nurse, Task Force 131, Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Chief Nurse, Operating Room, 5001st U.S. Army Hospital (USAR), Course Director for the Combat Lifesaver Course (USAR) and BCLS instructor.
Vogel graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1992, graduating Summa Cum Laude and earning a Regular Army commission through the U.S. Army ROTC Program. Vogel received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 2001, graduating Cum Laude and was the Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review.
Vogel serves as Visiting Nurse Association Board Member, is a voting member of the Institutional Review Board at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, and serves as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing. Vogel also volunteers her time as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso and is a graduate of Leadership El Paso Class XXXI.

El Paso Children’s Hospital hires Director of Family Support Services [originally posted Sept. 27, 2011]
Ana Maria Hernandez, a 25-year industry veteran, has joined El Paso Children's Hospital as the new Director of Family Support Services. Hernandez will be responsible for the development and leadership of several departments to support patients and families. Some of her responsibilities will include oversight of volunteers within the hospital, child life, social work and guest services. The aim is to create a patient- and family-centered environment, create collaborative partnerships among patients, families, and healthcare practitioners, and make every visitor feel they have the utmost care and respect during their stay.
Hernandez returns to her hometown of El Paso after an 11-year run in Dallas where she developed the guest relations program at Children's Medical Center in Dallas and Children's Medical Center Legacy. Prior to her Dallas experience, Ms. Hernandez held various positions within guest relations and patient advocacy at the Sierra/Providence Health Network.
