Navkiran Shokar, MD, MPH, is one of 15 Texans selected to help spearhead four regional stakeholder meetings as part of a Future Directions initiative of the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The selected 15 represent a spectrum of backgrounds and Texas geographic areas. They will distill participant insights and recommendations from the meetings into actionable recommendations that will be presented at CPRIT’s 2012 annual conference in October in Austin. Shokar is an associate professor of family and community medicine and biomedical sciences and associate director of Cancer Prevention and Control in the Cancer Center of Excellence, TTUHSC Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. She has been investigating disparities in colorectal cancer screening for more than a decade.
